Welcome! It's nice to see you! Please check out the newly harvested crop of Test Prints. I think they are some of my favorites so far. In other news, I was selected to design the 2010 poster for the 57th Street Art Fair, Which has been a Hyde Park, Chicago cultural staple for the last 63 years. I won't unfortunately be able to be present at this years fair as I'll be setting up shop in Brooklyn's McCarren Park for the Renegade Craft Fair However, a limited edition of signed and numbered prints is in the works for this poster, These will be on display at the event and for sale here. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to a spring full of experimentation and productivity. It is my wish to push my work into new directions and avenues in the coming months, so we'll see how that works out. Presently, the press here has been busy enough that we've decided to give it it's own home. WORKSPACE is the name (Thanks Susie!) and this is a new enterprise devoted to creating superior quality screen printed editions of YOUR artwork. The website is under construction at the moment, but it's goal will be to streamline the process of having your art or design project screen printed by experienced professional artists as well as being a showcase for whatever project we happen to be working on at the moment. I want it to be both a simple, go-to site for the Artist/Designer as well as a little window into our process. Richie Bearden, who slogged away as my intern for over a year has been promoted to the position of THE PRINTER at WORKSPACE. Richie's acute color sense and attention to detail make him an excellent pressman. Our newest addition, Intern Clay Hickson, has recently proven that he can be a very good sport about doing horrible things. Believe me, this is a great start!
Home again-Home again! Thanks for checking in! Check out some new Posters! I've uploaded images of the Fleet Foxes/Dungen, Implodes show poster, and the Renegade Craft Fair West Coast Posters, all of which are now for sale in the POSTERS section. June and July found me traveling a bunch for the Renegade Craft Fairs in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and, most recently, the All Points West Festival in Liberty State Park, NJ. All the Fairs were hugely successful as well as being a lot of fun. In my spare time I've designed and printed a limited edition LP cover for The Race's new record, entitled Exiles, which is due out this fall on St. Ives Recordings. It looks like this.
As well, I've got a new art print which was created for Screens 'N' Spokes 2009 which is a combination Art Show and Bicycle ride where all monies raised go to finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. These will be available for sale after the Benefit show comes down at the end of August. Until next time, Tally Ho!
Why won't spring end? I'm dying to put away my warm clothing. Chicago is a cruel weather town! Hello again, thanks for coming by. I've just added 3 new Posters to the site. One is for the most recent Renegade Craft Fair which happened in Brooklyn, NY the weekend of June 6+7. The Fair was a huge event with 80,000 attendees and perfect weather. Tons of fun was had by all. Also, newly completed posters for The Decemberists and Black Moth Super Rainbow/School of Seven Bells. Stay tuned for 2 more Renegade Craft Fair posters for the upcoming events in LA and San Francisco next month as well as one for a Neko Case Charity Auction. In the Fine Art Prints section of the site you'll find 2 newly added screen printed Monoprints on wood panels which I made for a show last fall in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. They're calmingly bucolic. Also in the news, I've decided to offer a Subscription to my new bi-monthly print club. Beginning September 1, 2009 I'll be producing at least one fine art print every 2 months for a year. These prints will be in small editions and will retail at 100.00 each. Subscribers will receive one year's worth (6 in total) of these prints for a reduced price of $400.00. In addition, I am offering an enhanced subscription which will include the bi-monthly fine art print series, as well as copies of every poster I design during the subscription period and one collaged Mono/Test Print compiled from the production of my year's output of prints. This enhanced Subscription will be $600.00 with the value at retail being over $1000.00. If you are interested in becoming a subscriber or simply would like more information please send me an email via the Contact section of the site. Until next time, Tally Ho! Bring on the HOT WEATHER!

I've finished 2 new poster editions, one for Andrew Bird @ The Civic Opera House, and one for The Tallest Man On Earth. These are now for sale in the Posters section of the site. Also, check out a new print entitled "Hot Spring" in the Fine Art section under Prints. This print was part of an artist's portfolio exhibited at this years Southern Graphics Council Conference in Chicago. It is a limited edition of 23 prints. I'm leaving tomorrow for Puerto Rico but will be back in the swing of things next week. Thanks for coming by! < div class="date">February 15
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! Lots of news to share, so here goes. . . I've just finished a new art print, a 9 color cityscape of London via the Waterloo Bridge. This image was created for the cover of Wendy Cope's new collection of poems entitled "Two Cures For Love" published by Faber & Faber of London. I was graciously allowed to create an edition of prints of the image for sale and have just finished the printing! Waterloo Bridge is the title of this print. It is made entirely from hand cut stencils in a limited, signed, and numbered edition of 81 and is on sale now for just $100.00. As well there are 2 new Posters in the poster section of the site, one for my friends in Brazzaville, who played some shows in Turkey, and one for my friends in the band Nonagon, for their upcoming Chicago performance. For those of you in the Chapel Hill, NC area, my solo exhibition of large-scale prints is currently on display at the UNC Student Union. I will hopefully have photos to post soon, This is exciting as it's my first solo show in a while as well as the first time all of these new pieces have been shown together. The show is entitled "Memories Reverberate" and features most of my newer landscape prints on wood panels. I have also recently been invited to be a part of a Print Portfolio as part of the upcoming Southern Graphics Council Conference, next month in Chicago. I will get my print image up as soon as it's off the press. In final news, I will be showing and selling posters and prints at Flatstock 20, which takes place at the Austin,TX Convention Center from March 19-21 in conjunction with the SXSW Music festival. Please stop by between Shows! That is all for now, thanks for checking in!
First of all. . . I wish to thank my neighbor, Barack Obama, for winning the election, becoming our president elect, and reigniting the smoldering embers of my incinerated optimism. Susie and I got to share in the celebration at Grant Park on election night, it was perhaps the most jubilant sigh of relief I have ever experienced! Tally Ho Mr. President! Also, check out the Posters section of the site for some Renegade Craft Fair Poster Packs in just in time for the holiday season. They make a perfect gift for any collector or that crafty person in your life! In other news, people of Chicago should go by The Viaduct Theater at 3111 N. Western Ave Tonight! for the opening of "Exquisite City" an incredible group show featuring over 40 artists (myself included), each responsible for creating a 3-D city block out of cardboard. The Blocks are displayed together 'exquisiste corpse' style and the result is a room transformed into an urban fantasy town. This show will be well worth your time. It opens this Friday, November 7th from 6pm til midnight. Come by and be Amazed! Also, some posters of mine have been graciously included in the show Cachez ce Mur, at Le Cheval Blanc in Montreal, QC. This excellent show has been curated by Montreal's Simon Bosse' and features my work as well as that of Seripop, Bongout, Dan Grzeca, Crosshair, Simon Bosse', Nate Duval and others. I couldn't ask for better company. In other-other news, I'm happy to introduce Richie Bearden, a new Chicago transplant from the ATL. Richie is a talented artist, skateboarder, and recipient of many tattoos. He has recently begun the filthy and arduous task of being my intern. May the lord have mercy on his soul. Check back soon for more new work!
Hi and thanks for stopping by. Much has happened since the last news update. The Spring, Summer, and now Fall have managed to keep my nose to the grindstone as they say. . . all the more to see for you! Check out 13 new posters, 4 new paintings, 5 new fine art monoprints, and, finally, a pile of new test prints. In other news, some new paintings of mine graced the cover of and were featured in Lines & Shapes Volume 3, a small edition art book periodical out of NYC, and The Mollusk, a Berlin based art periodical created by the wonderful people at Bongout. In addition to selling prints at the Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Chicago Renegade Craft Fairs, I participated in a number of group print shows including Busted Amp, a group show of fine art screen prints by Chicago poster artists held at Columbia College's A+D Gallery, and The Ties That Bind, a multimedia group show at Future Tenant Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA. In August I was invited by Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art to take part in their "Works in Progress" Series in which artists are invited to set up a working studio in the museum for a day to allow visitors to view their process. I hope I didn't spill too much ink on the marble floor there! It must not have been too traumatic for them as They as well as Poetry Magazine invited me back later that month to give a Screen Printing demonstration as part of the Printers' Ball, a gigantic gala of small press literature. Now I'm excited to get back to printing, enjoy the new work and expect more very soon!
Boy, is it cold in Chicago! Though, it is actually colder in Madison, Wisconsin where I was recently invited along with my friends Jay Ryan and Diana Sudyka as visiting artist by the graduate print department and the University's Fresh Hot Press. Honestly, I don't know how those people do it. . . it is like, North Pole cold there, it must be the Cheese. Anyhow, while there we made a small edition of a new art print entitled "Susie Vs. The Jungle" which you'll find in the PRINTS section of the site. After returning home I began work on a commissioned work that led me into brand new territory as far as my process goes. The result is the 2 monoprint images featured both on the front page and in the MONOPRINT section of the site. These prints are my first attempt to officially approach screenprinting from the standpoint of a painter. These images are made up of hundreds of individual impressions utilizing 6 different simple shapes on 6 different small screens printed directly onto the paper on the wall. I'm excited by the results and the freedom this allows me to have in my work. I hope you like them as well. Tally Ho!
Hello! It's been a crazy year. . . perhaps the craziest year of my life ever. I got married and bought a house. This Summer my wife started a new business, a storefront called Renegade Handmade, and then 2 weeks ago I moved into a new studio, bought a giant screen printing press and started my own business. It's been a whirlwind certainly. I've finally had a chance to update the site with all of the actual artwork I've managed to make this past year. There are new Posters, Art Prints, and Paintings and more Monoprints will be added very shortly. Also, whilst moving my studio, I found a few copies of 2 previously sold out posters, the Vandermark 5 Meets Atomic poster with the tidal wave on it, and the Taking Pictures/Balloons tour poster with the volcano on it are now for sale again. I'm really excited for whatever 2008 will bring. I've got some plans to make some larger scale screen prints and monoprints with the new press. Keep checking back as I'm hoping to update the site more regularly this new year. Thank you for coming!
Hi there, I'm currently working on adding some new work to the site. In the meantime, my show at the atelier has come to an end. I'm happy to say that my work has found a permanent home at the gallery, so, at least part of me lives where it is warm out all the time. Here in town I participated in 2 shows recently, one, a group self-portrait show entitled I Low at cytO Gallery, and the other, entitled "Joined At The Hip" at Country Club Chicago. Before these I spent 2 sleepless weeks designing and printing 1100 seven color posters for the Doug Aitken "Sleepwalkers" event at the MoMA. The event was a huge success and all attendees received a free poster. I owe thanks to everyone involved for being so generous and fun to work with. This Friday is the opening of a group silkscreened print show at Lula Cafe in Logan Square, Chicago which I have a number of large pieces in as well as some posters. The show also features work by the print artists Nick Butcher, and Dan MacAdam as well as others. Check it out!
